A Stunning Venue in Wiltshire

Hatch House is a 17th-century family home set on the beautiful Pythouse Estate in the heart of Wiltshire. With incredible views across the Vale of Wardour, it provides the perfect setting for a secluded country wedding, whatever the style.

Hatch House is the home of Sir Henry and Lady Rumbold, who enjoy sharing their spectacular house and garden for weddings and other events. The theatrical façade of the house faces the exquisite walled Dutch garden, which has two tiers of lawn framed by herbaceous borders. Lady Rumbold has always regarded the Dutch Garden as “the best room in the House.” Hatch is an incredibly flexible venue and has been the backdrop to the international ballet event, Ballet Under the Stars, for almost 20 years, and has hosted festivals, the annual charity Open Garden and open-air theatre. In 2023, Hatch was used as the location for a marquee party in an episode of The Crown.

The History of Hatch House

Hatch House was a 17th century manor house built for the Hyde family. Anne Hyde was married to James, brother of King Charles II, so there’s plenty of fascinating history behind the house. Much of the building was demolished between 1769 & 1816, and the remains were acquired by John Bennett of Pythouse circa 1816. Architect Detmar Blow restored and extended the house and gardens in 1908. Hatch House has been part of the Rumbold family since the early 19th century.
